Student Wellbeing

Pastoral Care

The College provides a rich pastoral care programme which supports our students as they enter and until they exit the College. Caroline Chisholm values positive relationships and partnerships between the College, home and community. It provides for students in a safe, caring and enjoyable learning environment and a motivating and challenging educational environment.
The College has a Primary Links transition programme designed to support our new Year 7 students in helping them settle into their new environment. To us, it means welcoming them into a new community for the next six years.

The College strives to create the right environment and we recognise that developing the ‘whole person’ is an essential component of the educational learning process. For students to feel safe and secure in their environment they need to learn the value of complying with policies and procedures rand how this will better equip them for their future.

Homegroup teachers, Year Level Coordinators, Heads of Schools and Deputy Principals oversee the wellbeing of their students and are involved in every stage of a student’s life at the college. They offer a valuable point of contact for parents who wish to discuss their child’s progress. They particularly concern themselves with the needs of the individual and with maintaining the standards and expectations of the college.

Faith Development

Faith Education at the College aims to celebrate, understand and respond to God as revealed through Christian values and Gospel truths. Faith Education complements a comprehensive Year 7 to 12 Religious Education programme by calling on students to respond to service within a Christian community.

We encourage our students to recognize themselves as people made in the image and likeness of God and provide opportunities from them to explore their own spirituality. Students participate in liturgies, retreat days and community service activities throughout various year levels while they attend the College over a six year period. The Opening Mass and Sacred Heart Day are integral parts of the annual College calendar.

Life Skills

The Religious Education teaching programme at the College is well complemented by Life Skills classes at each year level. This pastoral care programme aims to promote resilience in our students, and focuses on such issues as the importance of tolerance, acceptance and personal integrity, positive thinking, developing initiative and resourcefulness, promoting health and self-esteem. The Life Skills programme also provides our students with wide-ranging resources and advice on matters relating to the self-investigation of transition and career opportunities. Students participate in regular assemblies, which focus on student contribution and achievement.
