From the Principal

Term 2 began with clarity of the gift of life

Whilst we enjoyed the gift of Easter, illustrated in the resurrection of Jesus Christ as our saviour, our Catholic community shared intense gratitude and elation during a time to reflect, be gracious and consider the power we must make our world better.
Pope Francis, just one day later, on Easter Monday, passed away. This is something our community mourns with a great deal of sadness. We are thankful to Pope Francis for his incredible leadership of the Catholic Church, and his service throughout his life to so many people, particularly providing a voice for the underprivileged. This event, despite bringing sadness, also brings clarity.

The resurrection of our Lord gives us hope, and the example of goodness while alive on earth that Pope Francis presented enriches us to realise that we have power to live Jesus’ Ministry in action. While having faith in Jesus and his Ministry, as outlined in the Gospel, the example of Francis is that we can do so much while inhibiting the earth because every day is a gift from God, and every day presents the opportunity to be and to do goodness. Just like Francis did. Our prayers remain with all our community who mourn his loss, while we also pray for the leaders who face an incredibly important decision in choosing our next leader.

We hope that the story of Jesus' resurrection, and the example of Pope Francis' life, in his passing into a final resting place with God, brings great comfort to you all.

Our College reflected the importance of Easter in Learner Mentor classes and engaged students in the acknowledgement of ANZAC’s Day in our first short week. ANZAC Day services included poetry and music reflections as well as a moments silence and of course, a reflection on our service men and women who sacrificed so much for our country. We are so fortunate to live in a country that is peaceful because of the sacrifices of many people whose commitment to upholding safety and progress have led to the quality of life we share today.

On Wednesday 30 of April, our Year 7 class of 2026 attended the Grade 6 Trivia night which was a great success. Together with their families, our future Year 7's attended, participated and built relationships with each other. This was a very positive experience.

On the 1 of March, we welcomed the proposals for a number of new initiatives in our Student Leadership Panel, and seeing the passion our students have for their college is incredibly inspiring and a reminder of just how important having student voices is.

I am looking forward to several upcoming events throughout the term, including the Mother's Day Mass and Breakfast on the 9th, the Winter Music Concert, the Year 12 Formal, and so many more! It's impressive to see the number of college activities put on throughout each Term, so a big thank you in advance to staff who are busy organising this behind the scenes.

I pray that each of us will take full advantage of the opportunities that present themselves throughout this Term to best serve ourselves and our community.

Finally, I thank you for trusting our college for the education of your child. We are blessed to form part of a community that is amazing.

Quin Auditorium Update

As you may be aware, our Quin Auditorium has been in the process of being inspected for structural integrity.

Unfortunately, we regret to have to share that the Auditorium will be closed for essential maintenance for the remainder of the year.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and ongoing support during this period. We know this is disappointing for many of our community, especially our musical cast and crew, who were so excited for Cinderella later in the year.

Student Events and Activities

ANZAC Day Services

Both campuses marked the Thursday before ANZAC day with an Assembly, remembering the sacrifices made by all those who served in Australian conflicts. It's always a moving service, and the wreaths laid remind us of how lucky we are to have such incredible men and women who have fought for us to be where we are today.

Student Leadership Panel

At the Student Leadership Panel, our student leadership present their ideas, concerns and solutions to our staff leadership, who then consider the proposals and ask questions. This is a key part of empowering our youth to make a real difference in the life of the College, and the panel held on Thursday really highlighted the quality of what students bring to change in our College.

Project Compassion - LM Pizza Party

Congratulations to 9A and 12I for raising the most money for Project Compassion in Term 1!
As always, the winning LMs celebrated at lunch with a pizza party, which was well received (and jealously watched on!).

Prayer

Prayer for the Passing of Pope Francis

Eternal and loving God,

We come before You with hearts heavy in mourning, yet grateful for the life and service of Pope Francis.

You called him to shepherd Your Church in a time of great need,

And he responded with humility, compassion, and deep love for all Your children.

Lord Jesus, you have called Pope Francis to yourself.

Thank you for the gift of his papacy. When he was with us, he tirelessly showed the Church your constant mercy toward sinners.

Grant him now your mercy and let him rest eternally with you in your Kingdom, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May the angels welcome him into paradise,

And may he find peace in Your everlasting presence.

We thank You for his voice of mercy, his heart for the poor, and his witness to the Gospel.

Comfort those who grieve—especially the faithful across the world who loved him dearly.

Guide the Church in this time of transition,

And raise up leaders who will continue his legacy of justice, peace, and love.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
