This year, our College Theme is “Be the Salt of the Earth: Serve with Humility and Compassion” connected with the scripture passage from Matthew’s Gospel (Chapter 5 Verse 13). The theme calls us as members of the church in preserving moral integrity in the world, like how salt preserves food from decay. It highlights the importance of maintaining one's influence and purpose in society. Our opening prayer reflects this theme as we draw upon and ponder on this within the year.
Loving God,
As we begin a new school year, we thank you for the gift of our community,
for our students, staff, families, and all who call this College home.
You call us to be the salt of the earth:
to bring flavour, hope, and meaning to the world around us.
Help us to serve with humility,
to recognise Christ in one another,
and to act always with compassion, especially towards those most in need.
Bless our learning and teaching this year.
May our classrooms be places of respect and curiosity,
our relationships marked by kindness and patience,
and our actions guided by justice and love.
Give us the courage to make a difference each day,
even in small and unseen ways,
so that through our words and deeds
others may come to know your goodness.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
